2 Reasons to Hope

The photo above comes from Jack and Jill Politics. The picture below is from all over the Internet tubes.
Both pictures make me cry, because the possibility of being able to Hope can be overwhelming.

I was thinking, after I posted the pics, it's not that the kids have Hope. It's that their absolute certainty in every atom of their bodies tells them that this is right.

Passing the "child test" is as tricky a task as there is for a human being. Akin to dogs, they (children) do not usually rely on guile when responding to an older human being (The Bad Seed and Eddie Haskell notwithstanding). They can be aloof, suspicious, oblivious--but they can also, in an instant, give their love unconditionally.

Obama, in those two pictures, embodies everything in this world we can ask from a sincere and wise adult, one we will have to trust with our lives and our future.

Thank you for posting those pics. They say things that words cannot quite convey.

I'm reminded of the end of the movie "The Right Stuff" after Chuck Yeager survives another plane crash ...

"Is that a man?"

"You're damn right it its."

Different context, I'll allow; but similar idea.
